The BLS extends a warm hand of friendship to women in Kuwait.  We host a variety of activities that connect women with one another, enabling members to network and form bonds of friendship that can last a lifetime.

Our functions are designed to assist, inform, and entertain our members, and hopefully provide everyone with a way to more fully enjoy their time in Kuwait!  Listed below are brief descriptions of our popular activities.

The Book Club provides an opportunity for bookworms to meet one another and discuss books in a relaxed and friendly environment.  The club selects books from a variety of genres which has encouraged some excellent, thought-provoking discussions.

Coffee morning gatherings give BLS Members and their guests a chance to welcome ladies new to Kuwait and to the British Ladies Society.  Come for coffee, tea and conversation, and walk away with new friends and innumerable tips on how to make the most of your time in Kuwait . Although the locations change, the friendship and fun is always a constant!  Everyone is welcome. 

Coffee mornings are held two Monday mornings per month from 10am – 12pm at a variety of locations and all are welcome either as a Member or a Guest.  Usually the Coffee Mornings are 'ladies only' but sometimes a host will open the morning to children.  Please check with us first if this is not clear in the notice. 

We are always looking for ladies to host a morning.  Please get in touch if you can help.

BLS excursions are a great way for members and their guests to learn more about Kuwait.  The excursions team organises tours of unique and interesting local sites such as the Arab Organisation Headquarters building, the Kuwait Stock Exchange, the Grand Mosque, a chocolate factory, the House of Mirrors, the Sadu House and the Tareq Rajab Museum, to name only a few.

Tours are scheduled on designated Sunday mornings and usually start at 10am.  For more details contact excursions@theblskuwait.com

The library has over 3,000 fiction and non-fiction titles available to borrow, as well as a good selection of DVDs, plus free magazines.   In addition, there is a separate section where, for a small donation, books are for sale.   More than just a library, it is a place where members can relax with a cup of tea, meet old friends and make new ones, share advice about living in Kuwait, and have more than a laugh or two.

The library is usually open on Thursdays from 10am – 1pm, for use by BLS members and their guests.  Spouses are welcome on the first Thursday of the month.

Evening Library is usually the third Wednesday of the month, from 6 - 8pm, and spouses are welcome to attend.

The British Ladies' Mums and Tots Group offers you a chance to meet other mums over a coffee and a biscuit and share the trials, tribulations and elations of motherhood.  It also serves as a playgroup for your babies/toddlers (newborn to around 3yrs) and a place to come for information, e.g. where to find a good obstetrician/paediatrician, and to weigh and measure your babies.

The BLS Walkers is a lively and social group of women whose basic aim is to get out walking and meet other ladies of similar interests.

During the cooler months, the ladies meet every Thursday at 8:30am and walk on the Corniche between the Scientific Centre and Marina Crescent.

Of course, the walk wouldn't be complete without stopping for a coffee at the end of it! The group is open to all ladies; membership to the BLS is not required.

The BLS holds a  monthly evening dinner on the first Tuesday of the month at the Movenpick Al Bida Hotel in Salwa.  This is a ladies only event.  Each month a different speaker is invited to talk on a subject of interest to our members. It is a lovely way to meet new friends.
